Ever feel like the world around you is just so noisy or maybe just your head feels noisy. I get you, we live in a world that’s constantly pushing us to do more, be more and have more. Sometimes it’s all just plain hard to find a balance and peace when inside everything feels crazy.
Now that I have to spend a good amount of my time resting, I have found I can easily become restless and impatient with the season I’m in. Do you ever feel yourself wanting to rush to the next season because you believe the lie that it’ll be better?
Something I also notice can sometimes leave me feeling uneasy is extra scrolling through Instagram, don’t get me wrong I love Instagram (like a lot) but sometimes it’s just too much having your dream live displayed on your phone with someone else living it.
These are just some examples from my own life that I have noticed that leave me restless and craving peace. Maybe you can relate to them or you’ve thought of your own situation?
So what’s the answer to this longing, uneasy feeling that fills us deep inside?
I know that answer is probably not exactly what you wanted or maybe you expected it but stay with me, I would like to share this lesson I’m learning with you.
You know that answer I just gave you, seems simple in theory right? But we tend to over complicate it all and try get the perfect answer and sort it all out ourselves, trying to find peace in other things around is.
But maybe it is as ‘simple’ as just continually coming back to Jesus and reminding yourself of His truth through His word. It’s hard, oh do I know how hard this is, but He offers us grace and constant love. And this is just not a once off, tick off your to do list kind of thing, it’s a constant thing. Sometimes I have to ask for help and strength not just daily but hourly or even more often.
In John 16:33, God clearly gives us hope for our restless bodies by reminding us that He is so much bigger than all these uncertainties and trials.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
I’m in this with you, I see you trying your best and feel your pain in this struggle to find peace. Please just keep going, God sees your effort, He knows your heart. One day at a time.
Friend, you don’t have to buy into the lies the world is feeding you about where you can find your peace and contentment, keep fixing your eyes on Jesus.
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God-Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
